Our Workmanship Guarantee

Every interior painting job comes with a 5-year written workmanship guarantee, and every exterior painting job with a 3-year one, counted from the day the job is finished. If paint we applied fails because of how we prepared or applied it, we come back and fix it at no cost to you.

How the guarantee works

The guarantee comes in writing with your quote and your final invoice. It applies to the painting listed on that quote, at the property named on it.

If the property is sold during the guarantee period, the guarantee passes to the new owner for the time that remains.

When a claim is accepted, we prepare and repaint the affected area to the standard of the original job, using the same or an equivalent product. We cover the labour and materials for that repair.

What is covered

  • Peeling or flaking where the paint lost adhesion because the surface was not cleaned, sanded or primed properly.
  • Blistering or bubbling caused by our application, such as paint put over a damp or unprepared surface.
  • A topcoat lifting off our own undercoat.
  • Stains or knots bleeding through where we were meant to seal them with a stain-blocking primer.
  • Runs or sags that show up as the paint cures and were not there at handover.

What is not covered

  • Water and moisture problems in the building: roof or plumbing leaks, rising damp, failed flashings or gutters, and condensation.
  • Movement in the structure: settling, cracks in render, brick or plaster that reopen, timber that shrinks or swells, and joints opening up.
  • Rotten, rusted or failing surfaces under the paint that we flagged in the quote, or that you chose not to have repaired.
  • Normal wear and tear: scuffs, knocks, fading and chalking from sun exposure, and dirt or mould that needs regular cleaning.
  • Damage after handover: impact, scratching, harsh cleaning products, pressure washing, pets, or work by other trades.
  • Surfaces we did not paint, or areas painted or touched up by someone else after us.
  • Paint you supplied, or a product or colour you chose against our written advice.
  • Roofs, decks, floors and epoxy or concrete coatings. These are not covered by this workmanship guarantee.
  • Slight colour or sheen differences between batches, or touch-ups that show at certain angles.
  • Any paint manufacturer's warranty. That is between you and the manufacturer, though we will help with the claim.
  • Work that has not been paid for in full.

How to make a claim

  1. Send us the details — Text 0432 077 782 or email jimmy@jetblackpainting.com within the guarantee period. Include your name, the property address, the job date or invoice number, and photos of the problem.
  2. We reply within 48 hours — We get back to you and book a time to look at it on site.
  3. We tell you in writing — You get a written answer on whether the claim is covered and why. If it is not, we tell you the cause, such as a leak or movement, so you know what to fix first.
  4. We fix it — If it is covered, we book the repair at a time that suits you and do it at no cost.

Claim costs
