What's included in our government & council painting service

Community halls and clubrooms

Halls, sporting pavilions and clubrooms painted between bookings, with the building handed back usable at the end of each day.

Churches and community buildings

Fascias, eaves, window frames and facades on brick and render buildings, with signage and brickwork left clean.

Schools and kindergartens

Classrooms, corridors and exteriors scheduled into holidays or after hours, so painting never runs alongside lessons.

Public housing and maintenance contractors

Turnover repaints and common areas as a painting subcontractor to the head contractor holding the maintenance contract.

Why Melbourne chooses Jetblack Painting for government & council painting

Public buildings are painted differently from houses. There is usually a procurement process, a scope that has to be followed exactly, people using the building while the work goes on, and paperwork that has to be on file before anyone starts. Jetblack Painting works to that: we quote against the scope you issue, list the preparation, coats and exclusions for each area, and name any access equipment so the price you compare is the price you pay.

Jetblack Painting has 18+ years of trade experience, $10 million public liability insurance and a 5-year written workmanship guarantee on every job. Victoria does not issue a trade licence for painting; we are fully insured and trade-qualified.

Community Buildings We Have Painted

In Mentone we repainted the exterior of Mentone Baptist Church: the blue-grey fascia and eaves, which take the most weather on a building like this, and the facade around the church's signage. In Cheltenham we painted a community building's long fascia and its full run of window frames in a deep slate blue, leaving the blockwork as it was. On High Street, Armadale, a heritage commercial facade was repainted from a scissor lift beside a live bus stop, with the footpath kept open and signed the whole way through.

What We Supply With a Quote or Tender

A written scope that follows your schedule of areas, with preparation, coats and exclusions itemised for each. Our capability statement, ABN and certificate of currency for $10 million public liability. Safe work method statements for work at height, ladders, elevated work platforms and spraying. References and photos from comparable jobs.

Jimmy Demirci, who runs every job, holds a current Working with Children Check. If a site has its own induction, sign-in or access rules, tell us at the quote stage so they are sorted before the start date.

Working Around the People Who Use the Building

A hall, school or office stays in use while it is painted, so the work is staged: one room, wing or elevation at a time, wet areas kept out of public paths, and equipment cleared from shared spaces at the end of each day. Where a building cannot close, work runs after hours, on weekends or in school holidays, and the sequence is agreed in writing before anyone arrives.

Older public buildings often have fibre-cement sheeting and old coatings. These are washed by hand rather than sanded or pressure-blasted, testing is recommended before any abrasive goes near material of uncertain age, and damaged sheeting is left for an asbestos removal specialist.

Government & Council Painting FAQs

Do you paint council and community buildings?

Yes. We paint community halls, clubrooms, churches, kindergartens, schools and other public buildings across Melbourne's south-east, including Kingston, Bayside, Glen Eira and Stonnington. Recent community work includes the exterior of Mentone Baptist Church and a community building in Cheltenham. For schools and kindergartens, owner Jimmy Demirci holds a current Working with Children Check.

Can you provide a capability statement and insurance certificate for a tender?

Yes. We supply our capability statement, ABN, certificate of currency for $10 million public liability, safe work method statements and references with a quote or tender response. Victoria does not issue a trade licence for painting, so there is no licence number to provide; we are fully insured and trade-qualified.

Can painting be done while the building stays open?

Yes. Work is staged one area at a time, with public paths kept clear and equipment removed from shared spaces each day. Where the building cannot close, we work after hours, on weekends or in school holidays, as agreed in the written scope before work starts.

Do you work as a subcontractor to maintenance contractors?

Yes. Many council, school and public housing jobs run through a head contractor or facility manager. We work as their painting subcontractor on repaints, turnovers and common areas, to their scope and site rules.

How do I request a quote for a public building?

Send the scope or tender documents, or call Jimmy on 0432 077 782. We walk the site, then send an itemised written quote, usually within 24 to 48 hours of the visit.
