Most of what we paint here is older housing, Victorian, Edwardian and interwar, alongside renovated and extended homes like the one on this page. On the older homes, the preparation decides the result, so that is where the time goes. Toorak's Victorian and Edwardian homes, interwar houses, renovated period homes with modern extensions, and apartment buildings. Jetblack Painting helps homeowners, landlords, and commercial clients in Toorak with detailed preparation, premium coatings, and clear project communication from quote through completion. ## House Painters in Toorak 3142 Toorak homes range from large period houses to renovated homes with modern rear extensions and apartment buildings. We paint all of them: full interior and exterior repaints, extensions, pre-sale repaints, and common areas for owners corporations. Every Toorak job starts with a site visit and a written quote that lists the preparation, not just the coats. Fences, gates and garden structures can be included in the same quote, and the work is scheduled around the household. ## Period Homes and Heritage Overlays in Toorak Older Toorak homes carry decorative render, timber mouldings and fretwork. Most of the job on these is preparation: cleaning back, scraping and filling, making good cracked render, and cutting in around every moulding. Older paint layers can contain lead, so they are treated that way during preparation. Parts of Toorak sit under heritage overlays in the Stonnington Planning Scheme. We are painters, not planners: Stonnington Council confirms whether a new exterior colour scheme needs a permit, and we paint to whatever scheme is approved. ## Beyond the House: Fences, Gates and Garden Structures Larger properties carry as much paintable surface outside the house as in it: rendered or bagged boundary walls, wrought-iron gates and fencing, pergolas, pool houses and garden pavilions. These are scoped and quoted as part of the same job rather than treated as an afterthought, because a freshly painted house next to a peeling boundary wall undercuts the result. Wrought-iron gates and railings need the same rust treatment as any exterior metalwork: sanded or wire-brushed back to sound metal, a rust-inhibiting primer, then enamel. Gardens, planting and paving are protected while the work is done. ## What we paint in Toorak ### Interior painting Walls, ceilings, trims and doors in Toorak, including the ornate cornices, ceiling roses and deep skirtings period homes here tend to have. Detailed cutting-in, surfaces patched and sanded, premium low-sheen and enamel finishes. ### Exterior painting Weatherboards, render, brick, fences, eaves and fascias in Toorak, prepared properly so the finish lasts through Melbourne's weather rather than failing at the edges. ### Commercial painting Strata and owners-corporation work across Toorak — common areas, stairwells, entries and facades — alongside shops and offices, staged around residents and trading hours. ### Pre-sale and rental refreshes Fast-turnaround repainting for Toorak sales and rentals, in neutral colours that let period features present well to buyers without overwhelming them. ## Commercial painting near Toorak Shops, offices, warehouses and other commercial premises in this council area, with photos of our commercial jobs nearby. - [Commercial painting in Stonnington](/services/commercial-painting-stonnington/) ## Painting Services in Toorak Every service below is available in Toorak. From the first quote through to completion, the team was professional, punctual, and extremely detail-focused. The preparation work was thorough, which really showed in the final finish. The interior walls, ceilings, and trims came up perfectly smooth, and the exterior now looks brand new with sharp lines and a high-quality finish. They kept the site clean, communicated clearly throughout the job, and finished on schedule. It’s rare to find painters who combine quality workmanship, reliability, and fair pricing, but Jetblack Painting delivered on all three. If you’re looking for professional house painters in Toorak or anywhere in Melbourne, I highly recommend Jetblack Painting. I’ll definitely be using them again for future projects.” Antonio · Google review, Mar 2026 ## Nearby suburbs we also service Explore nearby suburb pages for neighbouring areas around Toorak. - [South Yarra](/painter-south-yarra/) - [Armadale](/painter-armadale/) - [Malvern](/painter-malvern/) - [Hawthorn](/painter-hawthorn/) - [Stonnington](/painter-stonnington/) ## Frequently asked questions about painters in Toorak ### What painting work have you done in Toorak? The photos on this page are from a Toorak job: a rear weatherboard extension with a run of timber bifold doors, and an upstairs landing with a turned stair balustrade. Antonio's review below is from a full interior and exterior repaint of his Toorak home. We paint interiors, exteriors, extensions and pre-sale repaints across Toorak and the rest of Stonnington. ### Do I need council approval to change the exterior colours of a Toorak house? Not for a like-for-like repaint in the existing colours. Parts of Toorak sit under heritage overlays in the Stonnington Planning Scheme, and an overlay can cover a new colour scheme on a street-facing elevation, or painting brick or render that has never been painted. We are painters, not planners: Stonnington Council can confirm what applies to your address before you choose colours, and we quote and paint to whatever scheme is approved. ### How do you keep disruption down on a large repaint in Toorak? The job is staged room by room or elevation by elevation, so you keep the use of the house. Floors, furniture and gardens are covered before work starts, and the work area is cleaned up at the end of each day. In an occupied home we brush and roll rather than spray. ### Do you paint garden walls, fences, pool houses and other structures as well as the main residence? Yes. On larger properties these are scoped as part of the one job. Rendered boundary walls, wrought-iron gates and railings, pergolas and garden pavilions get the same preparation as the house, and they are quoted together so the whole property is finished at the same time rather than the house looking fresh next to a peeling fence. ### Can you work around access and privacy requirements on a Toorak property? Yes. Tell us at the quote about gated access, alarms, restricted areas or times the household needs to be left alone, and the job is planned around them. We confirm who is coming and when before work starts. ### Can you match the existing colours if I only need part of the property repainted? Usually. If you have the original paint codes or old tins, the match is straightforward. If not, a sample of the existing paint can be colour-matched. Older paint fades and changes sheen, so a patch in the middle of a wall can still show; where that is likely, we will say so at the quote and price painting the full wall or elevation instead. ## Recent work in Toorak A recent Toorak job inside and out — a rear weatherboard extension and its bifold doors, and the upstairs landing with its turned balustrade. Weatherboard, fascia, gutter line and a five-panel bifold all in the one elevation. The bifold is the slow part of a wall like this — each panel is its own frame with its own glazing bead, so what looks like a single door is really five sets of edges against glass. There is no flat surface anywhere on a run of turned balusters — every spindle is its own small job, which is why a stair balustrade can take longer than the whole wall behind it. The carpet is pulled back off the tack strip so the skirting can be finished down to the floor line rather than stopped short of it. **Jetblack Painting** — House Painters Toorak | Phone: [0432 077 782](tel:0432077782) | Email: [jimmy@jetblackpainting.com](mailto:jimmy@jetblackpainting.com) [Home](/) | [Interior Painting](/services/interior-painting/) | [Exterior Painting](/services/exterior-painting/) ## Suburbs we service -
