As a painting company based in Mordialloc — just a few minutes up the Nepean Highway — Jetblack Painting works across Chelsea regularly. We know the local housing stock well: the classic weatherboard beach houses on streets close to the foreshore, the 1950s and 1960s brick veneer homes further inland, and the newer townhouse developments that have appeared throughout the suburb in recent years. Chelsea's properties range from original weatherboard beach shacks and Californian bungalows to mid-century brick veneer and modern townhouses. Coastal properties here need paint systems designed for the bay environment — the salt air, high UV and damp winters that quickly expose any weaknesses in preparation or product quality. Jetblack Painting helps homeowners, landlords, and commercial clients in Chelsea with detailed preparation, premium coatings, and clear project communication from quote through completion. ## Local Painters Serving Chelsea — Based 5 Minutes Away When you hire Jetblack Painting in Chelsea, you're getting a team that's genuinely local. Our base in Mordialloc means we can visit your property quickly for a quote, get on site promptly when the job starts, and be on hand if anything needs attention. Owner Jimmy Demirci visits every Chelsea job personally — there's no call centre, no unknown subcontractors, just Jimmy and his small team. We've been painting homes along this stretch of the bay since 2011. From the quiet streets near the Chelsea beach to the homes backing onto the Nepean Highway corridor, we know the local property types and what they need. Whether it's a complete exterior restoration or a fresh interior repaint, we deliver sharp, durable results every time. ## Protecting Chelsea Homes from the Coastal Environment Homes near Port Phillip Bay face conditions that inland properties don't — salt air deposits, intense UV and moisture from the bay all attack paintwork far more aggressively. We see the results of poor preparation on Chelsea homes regularly: peeling weatherboards, chalking render, rust streaks from metal trim. Our approach is built specifically to prevent this. Every Chelsea exterior job starts with thorough pressure washing to strip salt deposits, followed by careful filling and sanding of any damaged surfaces, bare-timber priming, flexible caulking of all joints, and premium topcoats from Dulux and Taubmans rated for coastal exposure. The extra preparation adds time — but it's what makes the difference between a finish that fails early and one that lasts. All work comes with a 5-year written workmanship guarantee and $10M public liability insurance. Detailed cutting-in, surfaces patched and sanded, premium low-sheen and enamel finishes. ### Exterior painting Salt air and full sun are hard on Chelsea weatherboards. Boards are washed down, scraped and sanded back to a sound edge, and bare timber spot-primed before exterior-grade topcoats go on. ### Commercial painting Strata and owners-corporation work across Chelsea — common areas, stairwells, entries and facades — alongside shops and offices, staged around residents and trading hours. ### Pre-sale and rental refreshes Fast-turnaround repainting for Chelsea sales and rentals, in neutral colours that let period features present well to buyers without overwhelming them. ## Commercial painting near Chelsea Shops, offices, warehouses and other commercial premises in this council area, with photos of our commercial jobs nearby. - [Commercial painting in Kingston](/services/commercial-painting-kingston/) ## Painting Services in Chelsea Every service below is available in Chelsea. As a guide, a full interior repaint of a 3-bedroom Melbourne home typically runs $5,000 to $12,000, and an exterior repaint $4,000 to $8,000 for a single-storey home or $8,000 to $15,000 for a double-storey. These are indicative ranges — every job is priced after a site visit, because condition, access and scope move the number more than floor area does. Weatherboard beach houses often need extra preparation — filling, sanding and priming bare timber — which affects the price. We provide free, detailed written quotes with no obligation. Call 0432 077 782 or email jimmy@jetblackpainting.com. ### What's the best paint to use on a weatherboard home in Chelsea? For Chelsea's coastal environment, we recommend flexible exterior systems from Dulux and Taubmans — products specifically formulated for salt air and UV exposure, such as Dulux Weathershield. Equally important is the preparation: all bare timber must be sanded, spot-primed and caulked before topcoat goes on. Skipping prep is the main reason weatherboard paint fails prematurely near the bay. ### Are you a local painter near Chelsea? Yes — Jetblack Painting is based in Mordialloc, about 5 minutes from Chelsea. Owner Jimmy Demirci personally visits every job to assess the work and provide a fixed-price written quote. We've been painting homes across Chelsea and the surrounding Kingston area since 2011. ### What needs checking on a 1950s or 1960s brick veneer home in Chelsea? The timber and the eaves. Window frames and fascias of that age often carry several old layers that need sanding back to a sound edge. The eaves lining on homes from that era can be cement sheet that may contain asbestos, so it is never sanded or blasted; if it is sound it is cleaned gently and painted, and if it is damaged it needs an asbestos specialist first. We check this at the quote. ### Can you paint a Chelsea beach house that is let as a holiday rental? Yes. The work is scheduled into the gaps between bookings, with the exterior or individual rooms staged so the property is never out of action longer than it needs to be. You do not need to be there; we arrange access, keep you updated and leave the place clean for the next guests. **Jetblack Painting** — House Painters Chelsea | Phone: [0432 077 782](tel:0432077782) | Email: [jimmy@jetblackpainting.com](mailto:jimmy@jetblackpainting.com) [Home](/) | [Interior Painting](/services/interior-painting/) | [Exterior Painting](/services/exterior-painting/) ## Suburbs we service -
